When the performance of Turkish lira against the US Dollar is compared to the performance against other developing country currencies it can clearly be seen that a "managed float regime" is applied rather than a floating one.

When EUR to USD exchange rate climbed above 1.10 after a long time, I thought I should take a look at the comments and analyses on the increase. But by the time I finished reading all, the duo fell below 1.10 again. Still, I feel the need to bring my own comment on this movement.

In the meantime, despite the efforts made to kill public interest in the KKM scheme, Turkish people have not stopped investing in on foreign currency.

As the week starts, let’s take a look at the CBRT’s statements from last week. Undoubtedly, the Central Bank’s statements about the real sector and banking sector were directed at the international institutions, not at the domestic economy.

The CPI must roughly increase by another 10 points in order for the inflation rate, which has been remaining at 55% since the beginning of the year, to reach 65% by the year-end.
