Who is Emre Alkin?

Prof. Dr. Emre Alkin graduated from Saint Michel French High School in 1987 and Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in 1991. He completed his postgraduate studies at Istanbul University in 1993, earned his doctorate from the same university in 1996, became an associate professor in 1997, and a full professor in 2002.

Prof. Dr. Emre Alkin, who served as the Presidential Advisor of the Istanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB) between 1999 and 2003, and as the General Secretary of the Turkish Exporters Association (TİM) and a member of the Tax Council in 2000, has also worked at Çukurova Holding, Doğan Holding, Anadolu Holding, and Altınbaş Holding. He has written economic columns for various newspapers, provided economic commentary on television channels such as TV8, SKYTÜRK, A HABER, CNNTURK, TRTHABER, and TV100, and is a columnist for Dünya Newspaper.

From 2011 to 2021, Alkin served as the Vice Rector of Altınbaş University. He has also been a Board Member of Göztepe Sportif A.Ş., a sports club in İzmir, and the General Secretary of the Turkish Football Federation. Between 2017 and 2019, he served as an Independent Board Member of Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş.

2024- He continues to write articles in Turkish for "What Kind of Economy?" and in English for "Tomorrow's Affairs" magazine. He also hosts the "Alkin and Yet" program on Ekotürk.

Appointed as Rector of Istanbul Topkapı University in October 2021, Alkin participates in national and international studies on "Conflict Resolution" between companies and the public sector. He has worked in international companies related to Payment Systems, Mobile Technologies, Finance, and Financial Matters.

Prof. Dr. Emre Alkin has authored several books on various topics, including "Risk Management," "The Evolution of Financial Intermediation," "Introduction to Risk Management in Banks," "Gaziantep from Past to Present" (co-authored with Yalın Alpay), "It's Not All About Economics," "We Couldn't Not Share," "The Art of Fikret Mualla," and "Turkish Economy Through Events," which was selected as the best business book of 2017, with one of them in English. His book "I Cheated Willingly," which explores the evolution of human relationships from the past to the present, was also a bestseller in 2017. His first novel, "The Woman Seeking Perfection," published in September 2018, also garnered significant attention.His book "Exiting Economics," published in November 2019, was very well received, and all proceeds were donated to the Happiness Address Social Solidarity Association. All proceeds from his book "Re-entering Economics," published in March 2022, were donated to the Topkapı University Student Clubs. The proceeds from his book "Adding Value to Your Life," published in 2023, were donated to the children at the Darüşşafaka Society. His book "Alternative Economics" was published in November 2024. In 2025, he co-authored "Economics for Everyone Again" with Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Alkin and Prof. Dr. Kerim Alkin, and also published his book "The Economics of Self-Interest" independently in the same year.

Prof. Dr. Emre ALKİN is a father of two and gives lectures in Turkish, English, and French.
